The White Squirrel Golf Club’s renovations have drawn attention from area golfers and diners, making it a premier attraction along the Lake Huron shore.

master plan to create a premier entertainment destination at White Squirrel Golf Club got a major boost this summer with the addition of outdoor dining. Located on Lake Huron north of Grand Bend, it also features The Acorn, a brand new pro shop.

“White Squirrel is becoming one of the area’s best venues for golf, dining and entertainment for the community, golfers and visitors to enjoy year-round,” says assistant general manager Dusty Carter.

When the new owners – Mac Voisin, Marcela Bahar, Al and Lynn Orth – purchased the former Bayview Golf Club in 2018, Carter says their vision was to beautify the property and provide a place for the community to “enjoy a wonderful experience.” This season’s improvements are driving that vision forward.

Carter says The Acorn has received an enthusiastic welcome. “The public has been in awe of our state-of-the-art shop with many custom details that are showstoppers.” She cites the acrylic bar, teak tables, wood detailing and art by Lucan’s Murals In Metal. Guests are invited to browse the pro shop’s varied retail offerings, including an extensive array of stylish clothing.

The patio, accommodating more than 100 people with dining and lounging areas, “accessorizes the building beautifully,” Carter says. It features live music and is weatherproof with shade canopies for relief from sun and rain.

Like the restaurant, the patio menu offers something for everyone, from seasonal specialties to pub classics and old favourites, she says. “Chef Aaron Smith and his team source local produce, meats and seafood to create their delicious offerings.”

White Squirrel has also introduced “Dashboard Dining.” With this novel service, patrons can order a meal and take it out on a cart to a designated spot on the course to dine while enjoying vistas of greenery, ponds and fountains.

The restaurant is open to the community seven days a week year-round, offering daily specials, themed nights, special events and live entertainment. Carter says the entire White Squirrel team is enthusiastic about the new additions and direction the course is taking. “We are all so proud to grow with the company. It’s a wonderful journey,” she says.
